We are one step away from voters being asked to approve funding to offer more child care for families, increase pay for early educators, and build a stronger voice for parents and early educators in Alameda County!
On February 6th, the Alameda Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to open discussion for the Child Care and Early Education Initiative on the June 2018 Alameda County Ballot! We packed the room and offered more than an hour of public testimony that moved Supervisors to vote “yes”!
If successful, the potential $140 million revenue generated by the initiative would double funding for early education in care in Alameda County. We will be closer to building the child care system that Alameda County families want and need. Join us as we march forward:
- Tuesday, February 27th
- 11:00AM – 1:00PM
- Alameda Board of Supervisors, 5th Floor, 1221 Oak St # 536, Oakland, CA 94612
- RSVP here!
This is a historic moment, yet our work is far from over. Early educators, parents and advocates must urge Supervisors to cast a final “Yes” vote 2/27 on the child care ordinance and plan to spend this new funding. Only together will we pave the way to create a better child care system for Alameda County.
